Dear all,

The school summer holidays are nearing their end … The chess classes will start again this Friday the 14th of September. The team remains the same, but we have decided to slightly change our approach. From now on we will use the so-called “Steps method” in our chess classes. This chess method exists in English, French, German and Dutch. You can find more info about the method at the following page: http://www.stappenmethode.nl/en/index.php.

We will start with two beginners groups using “steps” 1 and 2. The composition of the groups will be made during the first two meetings on Friday the 14th and Friday the 21st of September from 18:30 onwards.

In principle the following trainings are planned:

17:30-18:30: Advanced group
18:30-19:00: Beginners class (Book step 2)
19:00-19:30: Beginners class (Book step 1)
18:30-20:00: Free playing

This schedule may change depending on the number of pupils and the outcomes of the first two sessions.

Thanks to the “Sport pour tous (Sport for all)” subvention programme of the City of Luxembourg, we can continue to offer the chess classes for free, however we will be charging a fee of 6 EUR per pupil for the work book and the administrative expenses. We estimate that the pupils will manage to take one or two “steps” per year.

If you would like your child to participate in the classes following the “Steps method”, could you please send us a confirmation message with the following information:

Name, first name:
Preferred language for the method (DE, FR, EN, NL):

The club will take care of ordering the method’s working books at the beginning of the season.

For those who do not want to participate in the classes using the Steps Method, they are welcome to come and play freely from 18:30 until 20:00. A member of the club or a parent will be present and keep an eye on the children.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us (see Contact page) or come and visit us on Friday at the club.
